Job Description

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Project Manager on a 6-month contract based in Rugby.

This Role is inside IR35 – Full UK Security Clearance required.

Reporting to the Naval Project Director, the role will be primarily responsible for launching the design phase of a new Program whilst simultaneously managing defined elements of the existing Naval Program (NNP), ensuring project deliverables are achieved in line with business objectives.

The role is responsible for project delivery, profit & loss accountability, and customer satisfaction through management of project related activities and resources. Impacts the team’s ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

Responsibilities of the Technical Architect:

  • Leading the cross-functional team to execute the project to plan on time, within budget and in line with EHS and Quality requirements.
  • Drive accountability across the project fulfilment teams to ensure execution to plan
  • Working across virtual teams to ensure collaboration with all stake holders
  • Managing project timelines and co-ordinating with the Rugby Service Centre and external sub-contractors together with Sourcing to secure load planning through appropriate slotting demands within supplier capacity.
  • Accountable for project cost, revenue and cash review/pacing rhythm to deliver within budget and achieve forecast revenue and cash. Uses financial reporting and project KPIs to identify risks & opportunities proactively.
  • Proactively identify cost out opportunities and develop appropriate action plans
  • Proactively identify and manage project risks creating and executing and monitoring timely mitigation plans to ensure course correction
  • Ensure communication is adapted appropriately to maintain alignment across all stakeholders. Ensure accurate and timely updates to all stakeholders
  • Acts as primary interface to both internal and external customers / maintaining customer relationships through appropriate used of meetings, correspondence, negotiations, claim management and other mechanisms
  • Implements a continuous improvement cycle aimed at addressing problem solving and lessons learnt opportunities taking proactive actions to avoid further problems. Identifying opportunities that would benefit from change management and then executing to optimize those opportunities
  • ensure accurate pacing and escalate issues in a timely manner.
  • Liaising closely with other functions including but not limited to engineering, quality, sourcing and logistics to ensure project material availability, timely inbound and outbound events.
  • Proactive contract management to identify opportunities to upsell to the customer based on emergent work and ensure appropriate follow through
  • Non-Turnkey Projects or Product/Equipment-Only Projects. Responsible for overseeing the project and direct or indirect leadership and/or management of project resources for small-medium sized projects (size in relation to GE company) that may include equipment-only, suites of products or non-turnkey projects.
  • Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others’ options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Requirements of the Project Manager:

  • role requires significant experience in the Project Management. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • Engineering or applicable alternative degree or suitable practical experience
  • Full UK Security Clearance
  • Experience dealing with customers and commercial activity with proven customer facing capability at senior level
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Experience with forecasting, budgeting and planning
  • Able to operate with a high level of financial discipline and rigour
  • Experience with inventory management and project management tools
  • Knowledge of Lean and/or alternative continuous improvement methods
