Job Description

My client established in 1996 has grown to become one of the largest and most respected Control Systems Integrators in the UK providing bespoke systems and technology to a range of blue chip clients in the Automotive, FMCG and Logistics markets. Today the group employs some 300 people and with a turnover in excess of £35m. The company continues to expand and diversify by way of organic growth and acquisition.

The next stage of their growth necessitates the recruitment of a new Group Sales Manager to work alongside the Group Sales Director putting together sales strategy for target markets. There will be a wide scope of responsibility and this will include the definition of target markets and sales strategy, mentoring and leading an experienced sales team, develop long term relationships with key customers and to provide field intelligence on projects in the wider marketplace, and including competitor activity, pricing, equipment etc. The Group Sales Manager’s remit will be to focus on growth sectors for ATG which will include: Power Generation, Water, Food & Beverage manufacturing, Rail, Aerospace and Logistics/Baggage Handling.

In order to be a close match for the Group Sales Manager role you will have sales experience gained in the Automation or Control Systems sector and have a good grasp of the application of control systems in manufacturing environments. Probably educated to degree level however this would be beneficial rather than essential. You should also be able to demonstrate sales team management experience. Other elements and skills that are sought after for this role include: being commercially astute, soft skills, articulate and numerate, self-driven, tenacious and offering impeccable levels of customer service.

The offices are based in Bedford) and in the West Midlands so we would prefer the Group Sales Manager to live somewhere around or between these regions. Whilst some of the role may be home based there will be a regular requirement to attend one of our offices on a regular basis.

The package offered comprises a very competitive base salary with negotiated bonus structure as well as executive car, Private Healthcare and Pension.
